Privacy Policy

This policy explains what information Abvorn ("we," "us," "our") collects when you visit abvorn.com (the "Site"), how we use it, and the choices you have. It's written in plain language on purpose. If anything here is unclear, contact us at abvorn.hq@gmail.com.

1. Who we are

Abvorn is an independent product-research and buying-guide site. We are not affiliated with any of the brands or products we write about unless explicitly stated.

Contact: abvorn.hq@gmail.com

2. Information we collect

Information you give us directly:

  • Email address, if you subscribe to our "notify me about new guides" feature, either on the homepage or on a category page.

Information collected automatically:

  • Usage data, via Google Analytics — pages visited, time on page, general location (city/country level, not precise), device and browser type, and which links you click, including affiliate links.
  • Cookies, set by us and by third parties (see Section 3).

We do not knowingly collect any information from children under 13. This Site is not directed at children, and we do not request or knowingly retain data from anyone we know to be under 13. If you believe a child has provided us information, contact us and we will delete it.

3. Cookies and how we use them

We use cookies and similar technologies for three purposes:

  1. Analytics — Google Analytics uses cookies to help us understand how visitors use the Site, so we can improve it.
  2. Advertising — We use Google AdSense to display ads. Google and its advertising partners use cookies to serve ads based on your visits to this Site and other sites, and to measure ad performance.
  3. Affiliate tracking — When you click a link to a retailer (Amazon, or another affiliate partner), that retailer may set a cookie to track that the click came from this Site, so we may earn a commission if you buy something.

Your choices: most browsers let you block or delete cookies through their settings. Blocking cookies may affect how some parts of the Site work (for example, ads may become less relevant, but the Site will still function). When you first visit, you'll see a cookie notice where you can accept or decline non-essential cookies. You can also manage your cookie preferences at any time via the cookie settings link at the bottom of the page.

4. How we use your information

We use the information above to:

  • Send you the email updates you signed up for, and nothing else.
  • Understand which content is useful so we can improve the Site.
  • Serve and measure advertising through Google AdSense.
  • Track affiliate referrals so we're credited for purchases made through our links.
  • Maintain the security and proper functioning of the Site.

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share your email address with anyone outside the service providers listed in Section 5.

We are actively using only Amazon Associates at this time. If we add other affiliate partners, this list will be updated.

6. Affiliate disclosure

Some links on this Site are affiliate links. If you click one and make a purchase, we may earn a commission at no additional cost to you. This is how the Site is funded. It does not affect which products we choose to cover or how we describe them — our policy is that commission rates never determine our recommendations.

7. Your rights

If you are in the European Economic Area or UK (GDPR)

You have the right to access, correct, delete, or export the personal data we hold about you (in practice, this is limited to your email address if you've subscribed), and the right to object to or restrict our processing of it. To exercise any of these rights, contact us at abvorn.hq@gmail.com. We will respond within 30 days as required by law. We may ask for verification of your identity before fulfilling your request.

Our legal basis for processing your email is your consent (you opted in), and for analytics/advertising cookies, it's consent obtained via the cookie notice on the Site.

If you are a California resident (CCPA/CPRA)

You have the right to know what personal information we collect and how it's used, the right to request deletion of your personal information, and the right to opt out of the "sale" or "sharing" of your personal information. As described in Section 4, we do not sell your personal information. Advertising cookies used for AdSense may be considered "sharing" under CCPA's broad definition; you can opt out of this via the cookie controls described in Section 3 or by contacting us at abvorn.hq@gmail.com.

8. Data retention

We retain your email address for as long as you remain subscribed, and delete it upon request or when you unsubscribe.

Analytics data is retained for 14 months, after which it is automatically deleted by Google Analytics.

9. Security

We take reasonable steps to protect the information we collect, including using secure connections (HTTPS) and restricting access to your email address to authorized personnel only. However, no method of transmission over the internet is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

10. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as the Site changes. We'll update the "Last updated" date at the top when we do. Continued use of the Site after a change means you accept the updated policy.
