SolidAuto‑Empty Convenience vs. AI Boundary Mapping
If you hate stopping to dump a dustbin, the iRobot Roomba 115X Combo with AutoEmpty Dock does the work for you. After each run it returns to its base, empties the bin into a sealed bag, and you only replace the bag every 30‑60 days. This hands‑off approach means less daily maintenance and more time for family.
By contrast, the Shark AI Ultra and Shark AV2501S AI Ultra focus on smarter navigation. They use AI‑driven boundary mapping to avoid obstacles, target high‑traffic zones, and adapt their paths in real time—but you still need to empty the bin manually after each cycle.

Which Navigation System Adapts Better to Irregular Homes?
If your floor plan has tight corners, many furniture legs, or mixed floor types, the Shark models shine. Their AI‑powered boundary mapping creates a virtual map, detects obstacles in real time, and adjusts cleaning paths on the fly—reducing missed spots and the need for virtual walls.
The Roomba 115X relies on iRobot’s tried‑and‑true sensor suite (bump sensors, infrared cliff detection, floor‑tracking). It works well in open‑plan spaces but may need occasional manual repositioning when it gets stuck.
Making Your Decision
Choose the Roomba 115X Combo with AutoEmpty Dock if you value set‑and‑forget bin management and don’t mind a simpler navigation system. Opt for a Shark AI model if you want intelligent obstacle avoidance and are happy to empty the bin yourself. All links above are affiliate links that help support this guide at no extra cost to you.
